Who It Is For
Métis Citizens and other people in British Columbia preparing for, responding to, or recovering from an evacuation, emergency, or natural hazard.
How to Use or Access
- During an evacuation, follow local alerts and orders. An alert means be ready to leave, an order means leave immediately, and rescind means officials have determined it is safe to return.
- To receive provincial supports if evacuated, MNBC Citizens should first register for Emergency Support Services by using the Evacuee Registration and Assistance Tool: Register for Emergency Support Services. You may also call 1-800-585-9559 or visit an Emergency Support Services reception center. Citizens can find contact information for their local community on the Métis Chartered Communities page.
- Use the grouped resources below for a specific type of emergency or support.

Evacuation
- Read B.C. evacuation guidance. The Province also provides guidance for preparing a home or workplace: Read emergency-ready planning guidance.
- Learn what to do after an emergency alert and learn what to expect during an evacuation.
- Check your home or tenant insurance policy to understand what support is available during an evacuation. Many policies cover living expenses.
- Emergency Support Services: Access Emergency Support Services. People under an evacuation alert or order, or displaced by another emergency, can self-register.
- Under an evacuation alert, be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Pack grab-and-go bags for every member of the household, including pets, and park a vehicle facing forward so it can leave quickly.
- Under an evacuation order, leave the area and follow the order. Remaining can put you, your loved ones, and first responders in danger.
