The Métis Youth British Columbia (MYBC) Council strives to inspire and empower all Métis Youth to proudly own their gifts, talents, and important cultural heritage. MYBC provides Youth across the province with the opportunity to become the leaders of today and tomorrow to build a proud, self-governing, and sustainable Métis Nation.

About MYBC

MYBC is a democratically elected and volunteer-driven governing body that represents and advocates on behalf of Métis Youth at the community, provincial, and national levels.

The Council is composed of a Chair and seven Regional Youth Representatives who are elected by the Métis Youth in their respective regions. The Chair holds a voting seat on the MNBC Board of Directors and is the Minister responsible for Youth (and any other Ministry portfolio as appointed by the MNBC President). As political representatives for MYBC, the seven elected members work with their respective Community Youth Representatives to ensure MYBC stays connected with the needs of Youth across the province. The information provided by MYBC influences Ministry of Youth programs and event planning.

Region 2 Representative-Lower Mainland

Taanishi! My name is Brynn Carriere McKenna, and I am a proud Red River Michif woman. My family names are Carriere and Hamelin, and our roots trace back to the communities of St. Laurent and St. Boniface in Manitoba. I come from a strong line of politically active Métis people, and I’m honored to carry forward this legacy as the regional youth representative for Region 2.

Advocacy and social justice have always been central to my life —I’ve been involved in this work since childhood and am passionate about continuing to make a difference. In my role with MYBC, I am committed to amplifying and uplifting the voices of Métis youth, advocating for their needs, and celebrating our culture. I firmly believe that we, as youth, hold the power to revitalize and sustain the vibrant livelihood of Métis culture for generations to come.

We must cherish our inheritance. We must preserve our nationality for the youth of our future. The story should be written down to pass on.
