Ministry of Youth

Introduction

Welcome to the Ministry of Youth! We recognize the importance of Métis youth across our communities. We aim to strengthen and revitalize Métis culture by providing Métis youth in B.C., with low-barrier, culturally relevant education, life skills, programs, supports, and events.

We want to help foster a deep sense of connection, pride and engagement among Métis youth. Métis youth deserve to be equipped with skills, knowledge and connections that enable rooted and fulfilling lives.

The Ministry of Youth has four focus areas: connection to Métis culture and languages, youth governance, Métis youth wellness and healing, and life skills, training and employment.

Ministry Programs and Resources

Our Ministry is proud to offer a variety of programs and events catered to Métis youth. Our aim is for programming to be relevant and responsive to the actual needs and wants of youth across the province. Some of our popular past programming has included the Ask the Kihteyak (Elders) program, Culinary Pathways—a course on the basics of cooking, Y.E.T.I.—a Youth Employment and Training Initiative, and sponsoring participants at events such as Gathering our Voices and the Provincial Youth Forum.

The information provided by MYBC influences Ministry of Youth programs and event planning.
