The Community Service Award is a way for Métis Chartered Community Leaders to recognize meaningful volunteer contributions in their communities. It consists of an engraved pin and award certificate. This award is an initiative of MNBC Board of Directors’ Awards and Recognition Committee.
The pin should be presented at an organized community gathering. The Regional Director would welcome being invited to help celebrate or co-present the award if desired.
Eligibility Criteria
The following are suggested eligibility criteria to assist Leaders when selecting deserving recipients. A Community Service Award recipient may:
- Be an MNBC Citizen, self-identifying Métis person, or a non-Métis person heavily involved with the community.
- Have made significant contributions to the community through dedicated volunteer time and effort (2 or more years).
- Not award the pin to themselves.
- Not be currently receiving regular salary for their efforts (e.g.: as a paid employee or Executive Director).
- Not be a previous Community Service Award recipient.
Deadlines and Important Information
There are two intake deadlines each year: January 15 and June 15.
Only Métis Chartered Community Presidents or Vice-Presidents can submit a pin request.
Leaders can submit names at any time until the deadline but can only receive one pin per year.
MNBC covers the cost of the pin and mailing. Pins are mailed approximately four to six weeks after the intake deadline.
