Introduction
The Ministry of Women and Gender Equity (MOWGE) elevates Métis women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities by fostering a space for sharing. We help ensure their voices are heard by the wider community, and we advocate for and deliver on resources, programs and services that reflect their unique needs.
We aim to advance the safety and inclusion of Métis women and girls, and the Métis 2SLGBTQQIA+ community by creating culturally distinct programming, resources and toolkits, and reports that are leveraged for further advocacy. Through healing gatherings and support resources, we work to create spaces for reflection and positive change.
Our Ministry supports two equity-deserving Councils at MNBC: Métis Women British Columbia (MWBC), and the Two Spirit Métis BC Council (2SMBC). These elected groups participate in provincial and national discussions, strengthen partnerships, and collaborate with organizations to advance meaningful change for our communities.
