That’s a wrap on the inaugural season of the Indigenous Rookie League (IRL)!
MNBC would like to thank the players, coaches, volunteers, and Jays Care Foundation who all helped bring the IRL to life this past summer. The Ministry of Sport and Active Living hopes to bring the IRL back in 2026 to continue celebrating and spotlighting Indigenous athletes throughout the Lower Mainland and across the province.
Congratulations to all teams from the league this year: Team Chilliwack, Vancouver, Fraser Valley, and Tsawwassen.
Congratulations to Team Fraser Valley for showcasing the most Honour Points!
Congratulations to Team Tsawwassen for securing the most Compete Points!

About the Indigenous Rookie League
Métis Nation BC is partnering with the Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, to launch the Indigenous Rookie League (IRL).
This fully funded slo-pitch baseball league will be the first of its kind in British Columbia, joining 14 other leagues across Canada. The 8-week program, running from July to August, offers an incredible opportunity for people aged 12+ to come together, develop leadership skills, and build on culture and connections.
Cheer on teams from your community!
