Surrey, B.C. — Our thoughts are with all those affected by wildfires across the province, and we express our gratitude for the first responders, volunteers, and organizations who are leading response efforts. We would like to remind everyone in affected areas to follow the directions issued by local authorities.
To receive provincial supports if evacuated, MNBC Citizens should first register for Emergency Support Services by going online, calling 1-800-585-9559, or in person at their local Reception Centre.
Citizens can also find contact information for their local Métis Chartered Community here. Those on the ground are experiencing a rapidly evolving situation – we respectfully request that media or those who are not MNBC Citizens or Métis individuals refrain from reaching out to Métis Chartered Communities at this time.

We recognize the devastating impact wildfires have on communities, individuals, and the land. For many Métis, the experience of evacuation can echo the pain of historical displacements. We hold space for this pain while affirming the necessity of evacuation orders for safety. To all those currently away from home, we hope for your safe and swift return.
