Millions of Trees Program

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has received funding from Natural Resources Canada’s 2 Billion Trees program - Indigenous Funding Stream. Through this agreement, MNBC has launched the Millions of Trees Project, a program designed to support the well-being of Métis communities while enhancing environmental sustainability and climate resilience. This program is currently funded through March 2031.

This program will focus on three key areas:

  • Mass planting in wildfire-affected areas
  • Community planting
  • Métis Capacity Building

Job Opportunities are Now Open

We are recruiting MNBC Citizens for several hands-on roles that support the Millions of Trees Program and help build long-term capacity in sustainable forestry. Interested MNBC Citizens are invited to explore the current openings and review the full job descriptions in the Métis Capacity Building section.

These roles are seasonal to support the pilot tree-planting project taking place in spring 2026 in B.C.'s Northwest, on the unceded and traditional territories of First Nations partners. MNBC is grateful to the First Nations for the opportunity to train and employ Métis on their traditional territory.

These opportunities are delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Skills, Training, Employment & Post-Secondary (STEPS). and partnering organizations, veritree, and Spectrum Resources Group.

Deadline to apply: Friday, May 1, 2026

Métis Capacity Building

This initiative will provide training and employment for 120 Métis Citizens to enhance knowledge related to sustainable forestry practices. It is being delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of STEPS and partners such as Natural Resources Canada's National Tree Seed Centre.

Program Status:
