Indigenous Rookie League Season Two

Registration for the second season of the Indigenous Rookie League is now open!

This season, we've added two new teams to the IRL: Team Surrey Delta and Team North Vancouver.

Returning teams:

Team Chilliwack, Team Vancouver, Team Tsawwassen, and Team Fraser Valley.

Important Information about Indigenous Rookie League: 

• Open to all Indigenous youth ages 12-18

• Season runs June 8 to August 9, 2026

• One practice and one game per week

• All equipment provided (jersey and hat included)

The Indigenous Rookie League (IRL) is hiring a League Coordinator. 

Are you passionate about creating culture, community, and connections through sport? The IRL League Coordinator will help organize and facilitate IRL practices and games and support the league’s coaches and players as the league returns to action this summer. This is a paid position ($500/week) for the full nine-week (approx. 12-14 hours per week) season of the Indigenous Rookie League and is open to individuals who: 

• Are at least 19 years of age

• Have experience working with Indigenous communities and youth

• Possess experience in baseball, softball, or slo-pitch

• Be able to obtain and provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Occupational First Aid certification

• Have consistent and reliable access to transportation

• Be available for the full nine-week season (June 8–August 9, 2026), including full-day commitments on August 8 and 9 for the league wrap-up tournament

• Be able to attend Jays Care League Coordinator Training in Toronto (April 27-30, 2026; all expenses covered, including attendance at a Blue Jays game)

Indigenous Rookie League Season One Wrap Up 

MNBC would like to thank the players, coaches, volunteers, and Jays Care Foundation who all helped bring the IRL to life this past summer and celebrating and spotlighting Indigenous athletes throughout the Lower Mainland and across the province.
