Team BC seeking top Aboriginal hockey players and coaching staff for 2012 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships
The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) is pleased to announce the details of the Player Selection Camp and the members of the Coaching Staff for Team BC's participation in the 2012 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC) to be held May 6 - 12, 2012 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Following Team BC's promising results at the 2011 NAHC, the Partners Council's Provincial Hockey Committee has re-appointed members of the 2011 Team BC Coaching staff for 2012. Applications for the vacant Female Team Assistant Coach position are now being accepted.
Team BC tryouts will be conducted at a three-day Player Selection Camp where coaching staff will evaluate and select the province's top Aboriginal male and female hockey players to represent British Columbia at the 2012 NAHC. The Player Selection Camp will be held March 30th to April 1st, 2012 at the Shulus Community Arena located in Lower Nicola Indian Band (Merritt), BC. This BC Aboriginal Provincial SWIM Camp will be hosted January 28 & 29 in Courtenay, BC at the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre. Thank you to Wachiay Friendship Centre who is serving as the official host organization of this Swim BC supported camp.
We are inviting Aboriginal youth (First Nations, Métis, Inuit), ages 10 to 19, who want to further develop their swimming skills and gain quality coaching and instruction with Leanne Sirup, trained NCCP Level III coach, in a safe, positive, fun and professional atmosphere to sign up and come on out and join us!
Aboriginal Sport, Recreation & Physical Activity Partners Council Awarded Nike N7 Fund Grant
Nike has announced the 2011 recipients of the Nike N7 Fund grant program and the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation & Physical Activity Partners Council of BC is honoured to be among the 2011 grantees.
The Nike N7 Fund has generated more than $1 million to help Native American and Aboriginal non-profit organizations provide access to sport for youth. 28 grantees across North America were selected by the Nike N7 board of directors and the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation & Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) was named as one of the five grantees within Canada.
